The entire process of living in Zimbabwe is something of a risk at the current time, so you could imagine that there would be little affinity for visiting Zimbabwe’s gambling dens. Actually, it appears to be working the opposite way, with the awful market circumstances leading to a higher eagerness to wager, to try and locate a fast win, a way out of the problems.

For nearly all of the people subsisting on the abysmal local earnings, there are two dominant types of betting, the state lottery and Zimbet. Just as with practically everywhere else in the world, there is a national lottery where the odds of profiting are extremely low, but then the prizes are also surprisingly big. It’s been said by economists who understand the idea that most don’t buy a card with the rational belief of hitting. Zimbet is founded on one of the local or the English football leagues and involves determining the results of future games.

Zimbabwe’s gambling halls, on the other foot, cater to the astonishingly rich of the state and sightseers. Until not long ago, there was a very big sightseeing business, founded on nature trips and trips to Victoria Falls. The economic woes and associated conflict have cut into this trade.

Amongst Zimbabwe’s gambling halls, there are 2 in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has five gaming tables and slots, and the Plumtree gambling den, which has only slot machines. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has only slot machines. Mutare contains the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the pair of which contain table games, one armed bandits and video machines, and Victoria Falls has the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, each of which offer video poker machines and blackjack, roulette, and craps tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe’s gambling halls and the aforementioned mentioned lottery and Zimbet (which is considerably like a parimutuel betting system), there is a total of 2 horse racing complexes in the state: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the second municipality) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Seeing as that the economy has shrunk by beyond forty percent in recent years and with the connected deprivation and conflict that has cropped up, it is not known how well the tourist business which is the foundation for Zimbabwe’s gambling dens will do in the in the years to come. How many of the casinos will carry through until conditions improve is basically unknown.
