There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is illegal. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are means around this, as is correct of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are 150 slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that contains many luxuries in addition to the gambling den, which has 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 table games.
